What does babysitter care involve?
Babysitters occasionally take care of the children in the family home, mostly in the evening or on weekends, and can also be booked on short notice and for only a few hours. Depending on the age of the child or children, babysitters take on various tasks, e.g. playing with the children, feeding or eating with them, changing diapers, putting them to bed, and babysitting them when they are asleep. The qualifications of babysitters can vary considerably: many have already worked as babysitters; others have gathered experiences by taking care of their younger brothers and sisters. In order to prepare for the job, they can take part in babysitting and first aid classes.
In general, this form of childcare is suitable for all ages, but especially offers advanategs if
- parents only need childcare irregularly or by the hour
- parents want their children to be cared for within their familiar surroundings
- parents only need childcare on short notice.
Costs and forms of employment
A babysitter usually costs between six and ten euros an hour. We recommend minor employment. Under certain circumstances, self-employment of babysitters is possible.
